Android Candy: Every Hero Needs a Sidekick

May 11, 2015 By Shawn Powers  inAndroidMobile

I've touted the awesomeness of Calibre in thepast. And although theWeb-based calibre2opds still is an awesome way to access your eBooklibrary, using a native Android app is even smoother. If you have yourCalibre library on your local network, using Calibre Companion ($3.99in the Google Play Store), your Android device connects to your librarylike a device connected via USB. It's possible to load books directlyonto your device without syncing your entire collection into the cloud!

I admittedly still use calibre2opds in combination withDropbox to make my library accessible remotely. But, ifyou're concerned about your books being on the Web, CalibreCompanion is a local network solution. Check it out today athttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.multipie.calibreandroid.
